SA-IDA Monthly Section Meeting - June 14, 2006 at 5:30 PM

Where:  At the IDA office, 3225 N. First Ave., just North of Ft. Lowell 

 WE WILL HAVE HOT PIZZA FOR EVERYBODY  !!!!!

PROPOSED AGENDA:

1.  Minutes of the last meeting and Treasure's report, if available

2.  Astronomy and IDA Saturday evenings at the Desert Museum. 
Report from those who participated on Saturday, June 10th. 
Then make plans for Saturday evenings, July 15th and August 12th. 
Also, consider Teachers Night, Saturday August 5th.
 
3.  Should we again consider a better working relationship between SA-IDA
and TAAA ???  Note: TAAA has a new executive committee. 

4.  Should we consider, once again, using paid workers for star parties
or office work for our section ???

5.  A large public meeting sponsored by SA-IDA to be held at the Univerity of Arizona,
Health Science Center:

                 "The Effect of Light during the Night on Breast Cancer"

Dr. David Blask has agreed to participate.  He will be back in Tucson in September
or October, 2006.  We also have a liaison to help us obtain an auditorium. 

6.  Letter of support for Flandrau's new observatory at the Science Center,
Rio Neuvo.  Also related, follow-up support from Arizona State Representative,
Olivia Bedford. 

7.  Any new obtrusive lighting complaints and/or follow-ups. 

Has anyone checked the Chevron station at Camp Lowell and Swan. 
Can we work with any nearby neighbors and/or any property
owner association(s) ???

8.  A brief report from the University of Arizona, Sustainable Lighting
Committee.  They have completed a major grant application.  Can we
help with future grant applications and/or other fund raising activities ???
    
Remember: there is to be a certificate of endorsement from IDA and SA-IDA for
completion of formal course work related to outdoor lighting.

9.  How can we interact with law enforcement personal in the Tucson
    area, especially regarding education ???

10.  The 2007 Science Fair judging.  Should we consider making
any changes regarding our participation next year ???
