SA-IDA PROPOSED AGENDA - February 11, 2004 1. Minutes of the January meeting. 2. Treasure's report. 3. Old Business. 4. Review of our by-laws and election of officers. We need to begin to give this matter serious consideration !!! We need to consider finding a new "acting president". 5. Further evaluation of our resources, our mission, etc.. OPTIONS ??? 6. TAAA star parties. Other possibilities for interaction with TAAA and its members. 7. Evaluation of the sky brightness/darkness measuring device. We still need to work out the "bugs" and to schedule another session at TIMPA (perhaps only with "experienced" users first). It seems as if there is a problem with "neophytes" but we really do not know how reliable the meter is in the hands of "experienced" users. Also, should be build a few more "prototypes" ??? Finally, what about the problem nagging of calibration. Etc., etc., etc..... 8. Future excellence in outdoor lighting awards. Perhaps St. Mary's Hospital or the University of Arizona. Also, we need to follow-up with the U.S. Border Patrol. 9. Follow-up regarding hardware stores: Home Depot, Lowes, and Ace. Field reports regarding ACE, Glarebuster. Follow-up news regarding the availability of new fixtures. 10. Creating a telephone "tree" for SA-IDA. 11. Any new bad lighting complaints. Follow-up on previous ones. Also, any response at all from TAAA members ??? 12. Walgreens: A local survey ??? Should we contact the national office ??? 13. Special Arizona license plates - - - progress ??? 14. Report from IDA: Tucson and the Pima County lighting legislation, Arizona State legislation, reports from Flagstaff and Phoenix area chapters, the current status of Billboards in Tucson/Pima County, and lots of other new news !!!!! We will likely have a special report regarding Marana. 15. Media publicity for SA-IDA. The possibility of an hour-long radio show. Also, other radio and TV shows, Newspapers, TAAA, etc...... 16. Website improvements. 17. Glare buster shields from GE. Also, the Bob Goff fund for light pollution. 18. The SA-IDA CD. It's great !!!! How can we use it better ??? 19. Consider contacting TRICO regarding bad outdoor lighting in the Three Points area. 20. Desert Museum: Saturday evenings: 2004 21. Next year's student science fair - - - It is now time to make the final plans for this year. Judging is Tuesday, March 16th. We need to gather the prizes and make the certificates !!!!! Are we going to make a poster ??? Are we going to become an official sponsoring organization (likely next year). Etc. 22. Plans for a few Winter or Spring field trip meetings. 23. Follow-up on the high school community service dark sky projects. 24. SA-IDA pens 25. SA-IDA handouts at local astronomy stores. Also, national (international) distribution). 26. Do we want to do anything special for the IDA International Annual Meeting ??? Presentation{s) ??? Tour{s} ??? Desplay{s} Etc.
