Residential Patio Light Details

Before
A 15 x 30 foot patio area (dogs yard) was lit with two plastic Compact Fluorescent Fixtures
(each 18 watts, cost $13 each) with curved plastic lenses.  These produced a medium amount of
glare (light source visible for several hundred feet) and some light trespass (light radiating
horizontal towards other properties and the street) with minimal sky glow (light shining
upwards).

After
The two fixtures were replaced with one metal GlareBuster fixture (Model GB1000, cost $60)
with a 25 watt Compact Fluorescent bulb installed in the fixture.  This is a forward-throw "full
cutoff" design which shields the glare and directs all the light to the desired area and eliminated

Eliminated almost all the glare including into bedroom window

Reduced Energy consumption by 30%, about $2 per year power savings
Better Light Distribution to intended areas
Have a better quality fixture (metal fixture with glass lens)

Note!
The plastic Compact Fluorescent Fixtures listed in the "Before" paragraph replaced two 75 watt 
incandescent floodlights about two years ago.  This has saved about $21 per year power savings.
